Publication Date:  2014-01-06 Views:  772 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
A user needs to configure the IPSec function and multiple virtual firewalls (based on VPN instances) on the Eudemon 8000E. When the user runs the display license command to obtain the ESN, the command output displays no ESN. Therefore, the user fails to apply for a license using the ESN.
<Eudemon 8000E> display license
Device ESN is: (null)
License file is not activated, please use default configuration!
Alarm Information
The display license command output displays no ESN.
<Eudemon 8000E> display license
Device ESN is: (null)
License file is not activated, please use default configuration!
Handling Process
1. Run the system-view command in the user view to enter the system view.
<Eudemon 8000E> system-view
[Eudemon 8000E]
2. Run the _h command and enter the password _Security to enter the hidden view.
[Eudemon 8000E] _h
  password:
[Eudemon 8000E-hidecmd]
3. Run the active mpu-esn command to activate the built-in ESN.
[Eudemon 8000E-hidecmd] active mpu-esn

When the Eudemon 8000E has two main processing units (MPUs) installed, run the active mpu-esn command on the two MPUs respectively. That is, insert MPUA, and run the active mpu-esn command when MPUA registers successfully. Then remove MPUA, and insert MPUB. When MPUB registers successfully, run the active mpu-esn command.
4. Run the display license command to view the ESN.
[Eudemon 8000E-hidecmd] display license
Device ESN is:030GED107C000437
License file is not activated, please use default configuration!
The command output shows that the ESN is 030GED107C000437. The user can use this ESN to apply for a license.
Root Cause
The built-in ESN of the Eudemon 8000E is not activated.
Suggestions
By default, the Eudemon 8000E supports only one virtual firewall and does not support IPSec. When users need to use IPSec or add virtual firewalls, they can purchase the licenses.
The ESN is not activated on early MPUs of the Eudemon 8000E; therefore, no ESN is displayed in the display license command output. The users need to run the active mpu-esn command in the hidden view to activate the ESN so that they can use the ESN to apply for licenses.
