Failed to Create a VM with a Volume Larger than 1024 GB

Issue Description
VM creation using a template with a volume larger than 1024 GB failed.
Handling Process
You can use either of the following solutions to rectify the fault:
  •  Detach the volume whose size is larger than 1 TB in the template. Use the modified template to create a VM and then manually attach the volume to the created VM.
  •  Upgrade FusionCompute to V100R003C10SPC500.
Root Cause
1. On the FusionCompute portal, VM creation using a template failed, and a message was displayed indicating that disk copy failed. The NC service log was as follows:

2. According to the log, the failure occurred because copy-863F9EF5663A40758F091D24D655C5A9-lock failed to be created.

3. After we further analyzed the system log, we found that the size of the volume to be created is larger than the total capacity of the physical device. Therefore, the VM creation failed. In the following example system log, the size of the volume is 18446744073608904312 bytes, while the total capacity of the physical device is 4194320000 bytes. This is because FusionCompute V100R003C00 does not support creation of a VM with a volume larger than 1 TB.

Suggestions
FusionCompute V00R003C00 does not support VM creation using a template that contains a volume whose size is larger than or equal to 1024 GB. Therefore, ensure that the size of the VM volume is smaller than 1024 GB when a template is used to create a VM.
