Terminals Fail to Obtain IP Addresses When the AR Functions as a DHCP Server

Issue Description
Networking:

Fault Symptom:

Sometimes, a PC cannot obtain an IP address. An IP address is obtained after the reset ip pool name <pool-name> all command is executed on the AR. However, on the second day, the PC fails to obtain the IP address.

Handling Process
Many mobile users go online in actual networking and the lease of a DHCP address pool is one day (the default value).

After mobile users go offline, their IP addresses will not be released unless the lease (one day) expires. In this case, the DHCP address pool may easily overflow (all the IP addresses are allocated). As a result, new users cannot obtain IP addresses to go online.

The fault is rectified by changing the IP address lease to two hours.

The command used to change the IP address lease is as follows:

ip pool test lease day 0 hour 2 minute 0
Suggestions
By default, the lease of an IP address is one day.

Different IP address leases can be specified for address pools on a DHCP server, but IP addresses in one address pool has the same lease. Consider the online time of terminals to set proper leases.

A DHCP address pool can be configured as a global or interface address pool. The DHCP address pool in the preceding case is a global address pool. To configure the IP address lease for an interface address pool, run the dhcp server lease command.
