Issue Description
Version: SoftCo9500 V100R002C03SPC200

Networking: The Bell PBX connects to Huawei SoftCo using the telephone user part (TUP), and Huawei SoftCo connects to the carrier's network through the TUP as well.

Symptom: The Bell PBX user makes an outgoing call using Huawei SoftCo. This user's number cannot be displayed on the called party's phone.
Handling Process
Step 1 Use the operation and maintenance unit (OMU) to trace TUP messages.

Step 2 According to TUP messages, the Bell PBX does not send the calling party information to the SoftCo through identity and access management (IAM) or initial address message with information (IAI). Instead, SoftCo sends a gatekeeper request (GRQ) message to the Bell PBX, and the Bell PBX replies to the GRQ message with a GSM message that contains the calling number information.

Step 3 Check the SoftCo configurations.

The SoftCo enables the calling line identification restriction (CLIR) function for all the calling numbers retrieved from GSM messages. As a result, no calling number can be displayed on the called party's phone.

Run the config isup softpara index 11 startbit 0 endbit 15 value 0 command on the SoftCo to disable the CLIR function.

Step 4 If the CLIR service is required, run the config isup softpara index 11 startbit 0 endbit 15 value 1110111111111111 command on the SoftCo.

Root Cause
The possible causes are as follows:
  • The calling number sent from Bell to the SoftCo is incorrect.
  • The calling number sent from the SoftCo to the telecom carrier is incorrect.
Alternatively, you can ask Bell engineers to change the PBX configurations so that when initiating a call, the PXB sends the calling number to the SoftCo using the IAM.
