Issue Description

Customer monitorred that there are a lot of inErrors under interfaces of S5700.

 3.And we can find that most of the error packets appears as Fragments and CRC. As we know that the way how to define Fragments and CRC is as following,

Fragments

Number of fragments received by the interface. Fragments are the received packets that are shorter than 64 bytes and have CRC errors.

CRC

Number of received packets with length smaller than 1518 bytes and incorrect FCS values on the S5700EI, S5700HI, S5710EI,S5710HI, or S6700EI. On the other product models, this field indicates the number of received packets with length smaller than the maximum jumbo frame size and incorrect FCS values.

And CRC most properly caused by bad physical link status, and we asked our customer to change a cable and port to do cross-test, then finally he found that the cable is not stable, the CRC stop to increasing by changed a good cable.


But Fragments is still increasing, finally I checked in the patch release and found there was an known issue. Switch take fragements packets as errors wrongly but actually the fragements packets are normal.And RND has fixed the issue with patch, when customer loaded the lastest patch "V200R003SPH013", the issue was fixed.

Condition:

There is a possibility that this problem occurs when the following conditions are met:

l  Frames enter the interface.

l  The display interface [ interface-type [ interface-number ] ] command is run to display interface traffic statistics.

Symptom:

The number of Frames is incorrectly counted into the inbound Total Error.

Impact:

Users obtain incorrect traffic statistics.
