[London, United Kingdom, July 5, 2018] The first semi-year meeting 2018 of the Huawei UK ICT Academy Advisory Board (Advisory Board) was successfully held at Queen Mary University of London on June 21, 2018. The attending members included professors and senior executives from10 UK Huawei ICT Academies (academies), experts and guests from Huawei Authorized Learning Partners (HALPs) and industrial organizations. Leaders from Huawei were Robert Yang, Vice President of Western Europe Enterprise Business, Yida Sun, Service Director of UK Enterprise Business, Bo Zhang, ICT Talents Eco-System Director of Western Europe Enterprise Business, Pallavi Malhotra, Huawei ICT Academy Manager and more. As a critical move, the establishment of Advisory Board aims to promote ICT talents eco-system in Western Europe from academies’ perspective. Advisory Board consists of experts and leaders from Huawei, local and European ICT Academies and partners, as well as industrial organizations, devotes to managing the strategic development and growth path of academies.
Advisory Board strives to link between local higher and vocational education related academia, experts and Huawei, to create and strengthen healthy communication mechanism and platform, co-foster ICT talents in UK, and improve the industrial development and eco-system construction.
Robert Yang, VP of Western Europe Enterprise Business, who has long shown great passion and full support to education and academies, said that “develop ‘Multi-Skilled’ engineers of the future can meet the challenges presented by the continuous technological advancements in the ICT industry. We believe Huawei ICT Academy Advisory Board is the right platform to make that happen.”

Huawei ICT Academy Manager Pallavi Malhotra reported the program progress made since last meeting in November 27, 2017 and Advisory Board members were thrilled and proud to hear the excellent results WEU team winning the second in the Huawei ICT Competition Global Final and impressive progress Huawei made for academies. All in all, Huawei strived to maximize and deepen the connection of Huawei resources with academies’ events and needs, create fitting incentives as well as multiple learning tools to enhance their expansion and students’ learning efficiency for the past 7 months.
Key Meeting Achievements:
The UK Advisory Board agreed and were confident to map Huawei Certification on a national level and fight for awarding bodies to benefit more academies and students, degree programs and apprenticeship are also under the plan. Board and multiple member academies delightfully agreed to undertake Huawei ICT Competition Western Europe 2018 – 2019, soon to get it launched. As for supporting academies to deliver their trainings and certification, publishing and translation cutting-edge technologies including Cloud Computer and Service, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI), will be expedited to cope with the rapid growing market, as well as print-on-demand service with the third party is ready to serve our academies. Given the values of Huawei Certification adding to the students’ career, enhancements like internships and work placements are available for them starting from this summer.
