Deleting a Global hot spare drive


If the number of existing hard drives in the current environment is insufficient, you can delete an existing hot spare drive so that it restores to a common hard drive.


Access the Configuration Utility main screen. For details, see Logging In to the Configuration Utility.

Enter the hot spare drive Configuration Utility.

  1. On the Controller Operations main screen, select Logical Device Configuration and press Enter.

    The Logical Device Configuration screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 10-135.

  2. Select Global Hotspares and press Enter.

    The system prompts that the hot spare drive must have a capacity greater than that of a member drive.

  3. Press any key to continue.

    The hot spare drive operation list is displayed, as shown in Figure 10-136.

    Delete a hot spare drive.

  4. On the screen shown in Figure 10-136, select Delete Spares and press Enter.

    The hard drive list is displayed, as shown in Figure 10-137.

  5. Select the hot spare drive to be deleted and press Enter.

    The status of the selected hot spare drive becomes [X].

  6. Select DELETE and press Enter.
  7. Press any key to return to the screen shown in Figure 10-136.

    Exit the Configuration Utility.

  8. Press Esc to return to the Boot Manager screen.
