Adding LDs to an Array


If an array does not occupy the whole capacity of all member hard drives, you can expand the array capacity by adding LDs.




Data preparation is not required for this operation.


Enter the capacity expansion page.

  1. On the screen shown in Figure 11-3, select Logical Device Configuration and press Enter.

    The Logical Device Configuration screen is displayed.

  2. Select Manage Arrays and press Enter.

    The array list is displayed.

  3. Select the array to be operated and press Ctrl+C.

    The array property screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 11-67. Table 11-14 describes the parameters displayed on the screen.

    Table 11-14 Parameter description



    Array Type

    Specifies the RAID level of the array.

    Array Label

    Specifies the array name defined by users.

    Array Size

    Specifies the array capacity.

    Stripe Size

    Specifies the stripe size (8 KB, 16 KB, 32 KB, 64 KB, 128 KB, 256 KB, 512 KB, and 1024 KB for option).

    Create RAID via

    Specifies the operation to be performed after an array is created.

    • Default: No operation is performed after an array is created.
    • RPI: Perform initialization after an array is created.

    Configure array properties.

  4. Configure array parameters. For details about the parameters, see Table 11-14.
  5. Select DONE and press Enter.

    Figure 11-66 is displayed.

    Check configuration results.

  6. Select the array involved in Adding LDs to an Array and press Enter.

    The LD list of the array is displayed, and the configured LDs are contained in the list.
