Rebuilding RAID Data

Rebuilding RAID Data


If a member drive of a RAID array is faulty, RAID data rebuild is required no matter whether the failed hard drive is replaced with a new hard drive or a hot spare drive.

This rebuild happens by default when an appropriate hard drive is available, unless the RAID controller card property Auto Rebuild is set to Disable.


  1. Access the Configuration Utility main screen. For details, see Logging In to the Configuration Utility.
  2. On the Configuration Utility main screen, choose Rebuild and press Enter.

    The hard drive list is displayed, as shown in Figure 9-54.

  3. Use and to select the hard drive for rebuilding data to, and press the space bar to confirm selection.

    The hard drive name turns red, as shown in Figure 9-55.

    You can rebuild data only from hard drives in the HOTSP, FAIL, or RBLD state.

  4. Press F10 to rebuild data.

    A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  5. Press Y to start the rebuild.

    When the rebuild is complete, "100% Completed" is displayed.

  6. Press Esc to exit the rebuild screen.
  7. Press Esc to exit the Configuration Utility main screen.
  8. Restart the server.
