Overview

Overview

A PM8068 RAID controller card provides two 12 Gbit/s serial attached SCSI (SAS) wide ports and supports Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) 3.0 ports.

The controller card improves system performance, provides fault-tolerant data storage, and supports data storage in multiple hard drive partitions and read/write operations on multiple hard drives at the same time. This helps decrease the data access delay on hard drives.

The controller card connects to the mainboard through an Xcede connector and connects to the hard drive backplane using two mini-SAS HD cables, as shown in Figure 11-1.
