Restoring a Hard Drive in Frn-Bad State

Legacy Mode

If a hard drive is in Frn-Bad state as shown in Figure 8-153, perform the following steps to restore the hard drive to Online or UG state:

  1. Select the hard drive in Frn-Bad state and press F2.
  2. Select Make unconfigured good and press Enter.

    The hard drive changes to Foreign state, as shown in Figure 8-154.

  3. Import or clear foreign configuration as required. For details, see Importing or Deleting a Foreign Configuration.

    • After the foreign configuration is imported, the hard drive changes to Online state.
    • After the foreign configuration is cleared, the hard drive changes to UG state.

EFI/UEFI

The hard drive in Frn-Bad state on the Legacy mode is displayed as Unconfigured Bad on the EFI/UEFI mode.

If a hard drive is in Unconfigured Bad state as shown in Figure 8-155, perform the following steps to restore the hard drive to Online or Unconfigured Good state:

  1. Select the hard drive in Unconfigured Bad state and press Enter.

    The hard drive property screen is displayed.

  2. Select Operation and press Enter.

    The screen shown in Figure 8-156 is displayed.

  3. Select Make Unconfigured Good and press EEnter.
  4. Select Go and press Enter.

    The operation is successful if the hard drive changes to (Foreign), Unconfigured Good state, as shown in Figure 8-157.

  5. Import or clear foreign configuration as required. For details, see Importing or Deleting a Foreign Configuration.

    • After the foreign configuration is imported, the hard drive changes to Online state.
    • After the foreign configuration is cleared, the hard drive changes to Unconfigured Good state.
