Viewing Backup Unit Properties

Scenarios

After checking the backup unit properties, you can determine whether the backup unit protection properties meet the requirements.

Procedure

  1. Back up data on hard drives and access the Configuration Utility main screen. For details, see Logging In to the Configuration Utility.
  2. On the configuration tool main screen, select Controller Settings and press Enter.

The controller operation menu is displayed, as shown in Figure 10-130.

  3. Select Backup Unit Status and press Enter.

The backup unit status screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 10-131, and the description about the parameters is given in Table 10-22.

Table 10-22 Backup unit status parameters

    Parameter

    Description

    Overall Backup Unit Status

Indicates the working status of the backup unit. When the parameter is set to Ready, the backup unit is enabled for cache data protection.

    NOTE:

When both Non-Volatile Storage Status and Supercap Status are Ready, the value of Overall Backup Unit Status is Ready.

    Backup Unit Type

Indicates the model of the backup unit.

    Non-Volatile Storage Status

Indicates the status of the data protection flash module.

    Supercap Status

Indicates the working status of the supercapacitor. When the parameter is set to Ready, the supercapacitor is enabled for cache data protection.

    NOTE:

When both Non-Volatile Storage Status and Supercap Status are Ready, the value of Overall Backup Unit Status is Ready.

    Temperature

    Indicates the supercapacitor temperature.

    Threshold Temperature

Indicates the threshold temperature for the supercapacitor.

    Life-time Temperature Recorded(Min/Max)

Indicates the highest temperature and lowest temperature recorded.

    Voltage(Present/Max)

Indicates the current voltage and voltage threshold provided by the supercapacitor.

    Life-time Max Voltage Recorded

    Indicates the highest voltage recorded.

    NOTE:

The situation that the value may be higher than the voltage threshold during the self-learning of a supercapacitor is normal as long as the value is not larger than 5500 mV.

    Current Drawn(Present/Max)

Indicates the current and current threshold provided by the supercapacitor.

    Health

Indicates the supercapacitor health status. The supercapacitor is healthy when the value is higher than 90%.

    Charge Level

Indicates the supercapacitor charge level. When the value is Ready, the parameter value must be 100%.

    Estimated life time (Years:Months)

    Indicates the supercapacitor life time.

  4. Press Esc when prompted to exit the configuration screen.
  5. Restart the server.
