Increasing Available RAID Space

Increasing Available RAID Space

The capacity of a RAID array can be expanded using either of the following methods:

  • Adding hard drives: Add new hard drives to an existing RAID array.
  • Increasing available space: If the capacity of all member hard drives in a RAID array is not fully utilized, increase the percentage of available space of the RAID array.

The following conditions must be met before you increase the available space of a RAID array:

  • Member hard drives of the RAID array have available space.
  • You have logged in to the server through a remote virtual console and can manage the server on a real-time basis.
  • You have accessed the Configuration Utility main screen. For details, see Logging In to the Configuration Utility.

Data preparation is not required for this operation.
