Deleting a Hot Spare Drive


The following two methods can be used to delete a hot spare drive in the PM8060:

  • Initializing the hard drive on the Configuration Utility.
  • Using the arcconf tool.

Using the Configuration Utility

Initialize the hot spare drive to be deleted on the Configuration Utility. For details, see Initialize Drives or Uninitialize Drives.

Using the CLI



You have downloaded and installed the arcconf tool on the operating system.


Data preparation is not required for this operation.


The arcconf tool provided by PMC has been installed on the OS.


  1. Open the arcconf tool in the operating system.
  2. Run the configuration command:

    Syntax: arcconf setstate controller ID device channel id device id RDY

    Parameters in the command are described as follows:

    • controller ID: indicates the controller ID.
    • channel id: indicates the channel ID of the hot spare drive to be deleted. The default value is 0.
    • device id: indicates the slot ID of the hot spare drive to be deleted.
