Deleting a Hot Spare Drive


If the number of existing hard drives in the current environment is insufficient, you can delete an existing hot spare drive so that it restores to a common hard drive.


  1. Access the Configuration Utility main screen. For details, see Logging In to the Configuration Utility.
  2. On the Configuration Utility main screen, choose Objects > Physical Drive.

    The hard drive list is displayed, as shown in Figure 9-45.

  3. Use and to select a hard drive in HOTSP state and press Enter.

    The hard drive operation menu is displayed, as shown in Figure 9-46.

    Table 9-9 describes the operation options on the menu.

    Make Hot Spare

    Configures the hard drive as a global hot spare drive.

    Force Online

    Forcibly makes the failed hard drive online.

    Change Drv State

    Changes the hard drive status.

    Drive Properties

    Displays hard drive properties, including the hard drive type, storage space, asset serial number, version, and rate.

  4. Select Change Drv State and press ENTER.

    A confirmation dialog box is displayed.

  5. Select Yes and press Enter.

    The drive status changes to READY.

  6. Press Esc to exit the hard drive list.
  7. Press Esc to exit the Objects menu.
  8. Press Esc to exit the Configuration Utility main screen.
  9. Restart the server.
