Huawei V2 and V3 Server RAID Controller Card User Guide 36

This document describes the appearances and features of the redundant array of independent disks (RAID) controller cards, how to configure properties for the RAID controller cards, and how to install drivers. The RAID controller cards include the LSI SAS2208, LSI SAS2308, LSI SAS3008, LSI SAS3108, LSI SoftRAID, PM8060, and PM8068.

RAID 0, 1, 10, and 1E

RAID 0, 1, 10, and 1E

The LSI SAS2308 supports up to two virtual drives. One virtual drive supports a maximum of 10 hard drives, and two virtual drives support a maximum of 14 hard drives (that is, the sum of hot spare drives and hard drives in RAID arrays). The remaining hard drives can be managed by the LSI SAS2308 as independent physical drives.

Table 5-3 lists the RAID levels available for the number of hard drives present and the maximum allowed failed drives, which cannot be adjacent to each other. A RAID array consists of multiple spans.

Table 5-3 RAID levels supported by hard drive quantity

RAID Level

Total Hard Drives

Maximum Failed Drives

2 to 10

4 to 10 (even)

Number of hard drives/2

3 to 9 (odd)

(Number of hard drives – 1)/2

  • The failed hard drives cannot be adjacent. For details, see RAID Levels.
  • On a Windows hard drive management screen, Bus Type of virtual drives and JBOD drives for the LSI SAS2308 is RAID.
