Logging In to the Configuration Utility


The Configuration Utility is embedded in the controller BIOS and independent of the OS. It allows simple setting and management of RAID properties.

Impact on the System

Before accessing the Configuration Utility main screen, you need to restart the server, which will interrupt services running on the server.


  1. Set the LEGACY mode. For details, see Setting the Legacy Mode.
  2. Log in to the Configuration Utility of the LSI SAS2208 controller card.

    1. During server startup, press Ctrl+H when prompted.

    2. After the system self-check, the Adapter Selection screen is displayed.

      Table 4-55 describes the parameters on the screen.

    3. Select LSI SAS2208 and click Start.

      The main screen is displayed as shown in Figure 4-217, and Table 4-55 describes the parameters.

    Advanced Software Options

    Set the advanced software functions.

    Controller Selection

    Select the controller card list.

    Controller Properties

    Change the controller card properties.

    Scan Devices

    Rescan the physical drives or virtual drives, and return the current status.

    Virtual Drives

    View and change the virtual drives status.


    View and change the physical drives status.

    Configuration Wizard

    Create, clear, or add the RAID configurations.

    Physical/Logical View

    Switch between physical and logical views, which allow you to check physical and virtual drive information respectively. By default, Physical View is displayed in the left pane and the logical view is displayed in the right pane.

    • After you click Physical View, Logical View will be displayed in the left pane and the physical view will be displayed in the right pane.
    • After you click Logical View, Physical View will be displayed in the left pane and the logical view will be displayed in the right pane.


    Show the system event log.


    Exit Configuration Utility.
