S7706 PoE chassis: This card is supported in V200R013C00 and later versions.

Introduction

The ES02VSTSA provides four 16GE optical ports, which can only be used for cluster connection and cannot be used for data transmission and switching.

Multiple switches can be connected through ports on the ES02VSTSA cards to set up a switching domain and function as one logical device. You can manage all the switches in a switching domain on the master switch.

The ES02VSTSA can be installed in the subcard slot of ES0D00SRUA00, ES1D2SRUAC00 and ES0D00SRUB00. To configure the CSS service, install ES02VSTSA cards on both SRUs in a chassis.

Functions

Switches connected through ports on the cards set up a cluster and are managed as one device. You can log in to the master switch to manage all the switches in the cluster.

Usage Constraints

  • The ES02VSTSA does not support hot swap and can only be installed or removed before the SRU is powered on.

  • The ES0D00FSUA00 and the ES02VSTSA are installed in the subcard slots of the SRUs; however, they cannot be installed simultaneously on the SRUs in the same chassis or CSS.

Indicators and Ports

Number

Indicator

Color

Description

1

MASTER: master/slave status indicator

Green

Steady on: The SRU with this ES02VSTSA card installed is the master SRU of the CSS.

Off: The SRU with this ES02VSTSA card installed is not the master SRU of the CSS.

2

CSS ID

Green

Indicates the CSS ID of the local chassis. For example, when indicator 1 is on, the CSS ID of the local chassis is 1.

3

LINK

Green

Steady on: The link state of the corresponding CSS port is Up.

Off: The link state of the corresponding CSS port is Down.

4

RUN/ALM: running status indicator

Green

Steady on: The card is powered on. If the indicator is steady green for no more than 30 seconds, the CPU is being started. If the indicator is steady green for more than 30 seconds, the software is not running.

Slow blinking: The card software is running properly.

Fast blinking: The card software is starting.

Red

Steady on: The card has failed and the fault requires manual intervention.

Yellow

Steady on: The card is powered off.

Four 16GE SR4 optical ports, which are used to send and transmit service packets.

The S7700 only supports a CSS of two switches. To connect two S7700 switches through ES02VSTSA cards, connect the ports on the ES02VSTSA cards according to Figure 7-59.

Figure 7-59 Cable connection between CSS ports

QSFP+ high-speed cables, optical fibers, and AOC cables can be used as cluster cables to connect CSS ports on the ES02VSTSA cards. CSS-capable S7706, S7706 PoE, or S7712 switches can be connected through the cluster cables to form a logical switch.

  • To use high-speed cables as cluster cables, select 3 m or 5 m (since V200R011C10) cables (High-Speed Cable).

  • To use optical fibers as cluster cables, select the QSFP-40G-SR4, QSFP-40G-iSR4, or QSFP-40G-eSR4 optical module (in this case, the module cannot connect a 40GE port to four 10GE ports using a 1-to-4 cable) and MPO-MPO fiber jumpers. For details about the optical modules and fiber jumpers, see 40GE QSFP+ Optical Modules and Optical Fiber.

Two types of MPO-MPO jumpers can be used to connect CSS ports:
    • OM3: The maximum transmission distance is 100 m.
    • OM4: The maximum transmission distance is 150 m.
  • To use AOC cables as cluster cables, select AOC cables according to 10 m QSFP+ - QSFP+ AOC cable (supported in V200R010C00 and later versions).
