Installing the CX116

Scenarios

This topic describes a recommended process for installing a CX116 in the E9000 chassis. Get familiar with hardware devices before any operation.

Prerequisites

Tools

The following tools must be available before the installation:

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves
  • Phillips screwdriver (PH3 is 8 mm or 0.31 in.)

Workflow

Procedure

  1. Install the E9000 chassis.
  2. Determine the installation position.

    Determine the position for installing a CX116 in the chassis.

  3. Remove the filler panel.

    1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two M3 captive screws on the filler panel. See step (1) in Figure 3-3.

    2. Raise the ejector levers on the CX116 completely. See step (2) in Figure 3-3.
    3. Pull the filler panel out of the chassis horizontally and lower the ejector levers of the filler panel. See step (3) and (4) in Figure 3-3.
    4. Store the removed filler panel properly for future use.

  4. Install the CX116.

    1. Raise the two ejector levers on the CX116 completely, and push the CX116 into the chassis horizontally. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 3-4.

    2. Lower the two ejector levers on the CX116 completely. See step (3) in Figure 3-4.
    3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the two M3 captive screws on the CX116. See step (4) in Figure 3-4.

  5. Determine the port for connecting a signal cable.

  6. Connect a gigabit Ethernet (GE) cable.
