This topic describes the switching planes of the CX913 multi-plane switch module (CX913 for short) and functions of the switching planes.

CX913 is the switching control unit of a server. It provides data switching for compute nodes in the system and external management network ports and service ports. The CX913 provides two independent planes, including the 10GE switching plane, and FC pass through plane. The two planes are physically isolated.

The CX913 is installed in a rear slot of the E9000 chassis and is connected to compute nodes, storage nodes, and management modules through the midplane. It exchanges internal data packets and control and management packets to ensure high-speed data transmission.
