Removing the CX913

This topic describes how to remove the CX913 from the E9000 chassis.

Scenarios

Remove the CX913 from the E9000 chassis. Before the operation, become familiar with the hardware devices.

To replace a switch module, see section "Replacing a Switch Module" in the E9000 Server V100R001 User Guide.

Impact on the System

After the switch module is removed, all services running on the switch module stop.

Prerequisites

Tools

The following tools are available:

  • Protective gloves.
  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • Phillips screwdriver (PH2 is 6 mm or 0.25 in.).

Procedure

  1. Determine the CX913 to be removed. Figure 3-10 shows the slot numbers.

  2. Determine the connection relationships between signal cables and ports on the CX913. Figure 3-11 shows the port types and numbers of the CX913.

  3. (Optional) Remove a serial cable, as shown in Figure 3-12.

    NOTE:

    The BMC serial port, SYS serial port, are standard RJ-45 ports and are disconnected in the same way.

  4. Remove a 10GE or FC optical fiber and optical module.

    1. Remove the optical fiber from the optical module. See (1) and (2) in Figure 3-13.
    2. Install the dust-proof cap for the optical module. See (3) in Figure 3-13.

      NOTE:

      Use the same method to remove an optical fiber from a 10GE optical port or 8G FC optical port.

    3. Determine the optical module type and removal position based on site requirements.
    4. Remove the optical module horizontally from the optical port, as shown in Figure 3-14.

  5. Remove the CX913.

    1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two M3 captive screws. See (1) in Figure 3-15.

    2. Raise the two ejector levers on the CX913 completely and pull the switch module horizontally out of the chassis. See (2) and (3) in Figure 3-15.
    3. Lower the ejector levers on the CX913. See (4) in Figure 3-15.
      NOTICE:

      An ESD bag holds only one switch module.

    4. Place the removed switch module into an ESD bag.

  6. Install a switch module filler panel.

    1. Raise the two handles on the switch module filler panel and push the filler panel horizontally into the chassis as far as it will go. See (1) in Figure 3-16.

    2. Lower the two handles on the switch module filler panel. See (2) in Figure 3-16.
    3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the two M3 captive screws on the switch module filler panel. See (3) in Figure 3-16.
