This document describes the CX913 10GE switch module (CX913 for short) of the Tecal E9000 server in terms of its features, installation, removal, and configuration. This document applies to the CX913 whose GE/10GE switching planes use the software versions of 1.1.x.x.x, and 1.23-1.99.

This topic describes the features, number rules, names, types, and quantity of the CX913 ports.

Overview

The CX913 provides ports for users to operate and configure. The ports are used to send and receive data.

Serial port

The serial ports include the baseboard management controller (BMC) serial port and the SYS serial port. The ports comply with RS232, and the port type is RJ45. No indicator is available.

  • BMC serial port: The port is used to log in to the BMC command-line interface (CLI).
  • SYS serial port: This port is used for managing, maintaining, and commissioning the 10GE switching plane.

The BMC serial port and serial ports of the 10GE switching plane support the baud rate of 115,200 bit/s.

GE electrical port

This port is used to control and manage the server.

Each port has two indicators. The orange one is a data transmission status indicator, and the green one is a connection status indicator.

10GE optical port

SFP+

This port is used to exchange data with a service network.

Each port has two indicators. The orange one is a data transmission status indicator, and the green one is a connection status indicator.

8G FC optical port

SFP+

This port is used to connect to a FC storage network.

Two connection status indicators are provided for each 8G FC optical port. Each indicator turns green or orange according to the connection status.

Port number rules

The CX913 Ethernet ports are numbered in Slot number/Subcard number/Port number format on the CLI.

  • Slot number: Its value is 0.
  • Subcard number: Its value is 0.
  • Port number: indicates the sequence number of an Ethernet port on the panel. The ethernet electrical port value ranges from 1 to 4, the ethernet optical port value ranges from 1 to 16, as shown in Figure 2-5.

Figure 2-5 shows the Ethernet electrical port numbers. The number of the first port in the upper right area is Gigabit Ethernet 0/0/4.

The FC optical ports on the CX913 are numbered 1 to 8 which correspond to the FC optical ports 1 to 8 on the panel, as shown in Figure 2-5.
