Procedure

  1. Install a multi-port cable.

    The CH140, CH140 V3, and CH226 V3 do not have universal connector ports (UCPs). For these compute nodes, multi-port cables are not required.
    1. Press the two ejector release buttons on the multi-port cable. See (1) in Figure 3-53.

    2. Horizontally insert the multi-port cable into the UCP on the compute node. See (2) in Figure 3-53.

  2. Connect optical cables.

    1. Determine the type and installation position of the optical module based on site requirements.
    2. Insert the optical module into the optical port until the optical module clicks into place.

    3. Remove the dustproof caps from the optical cable. See (1) in Figure 3-55.

    4. Insert the optical cable into the optical module. See (2) in Figure 3-55.

  3. Connect a GE network cable or serial cable.

    • The serial ports and GE electrical ports are standard RJ-45 ports, which are connected in the same way.
    • Before installing a network cable to a network port, check that the network cable connector is intact and the pins have no sundries or deformation.

  4. Lay out and bind GE network cables and serial cables.

    The Ethernet signal cables connecting cabinets do not support EMS. According to EMC requirements, the distance between the power cables and signal cables must be at least 100 mm (3.94 in.).

    1. Lay out the signal cables neatly along the cable organizers, bind the signal cables using cable ties, and use diagonal pliers to trim off the excess ends of cable ties so that there are no rough edges.

    2. Remove the cut-off ends of the cable ties from the cabinet.

  5. Lay out and bind optical cables.

    1. Lay out optical cables neatly along the cable organizers, and bind the optical cables using the fiber binding tape.

      Use corrugated pipes to protect the optical cables that are routed across the cabinet.

    2. Bind optical cables using cable ties, and use diagonal pliers to trim off the excess ends of cable ties so that there are no rough edges.

    3. Remove the cut-off ends of the cable ties from the cabinet.
