  • The MZ510, MZ512, MZ520, and MZ522 support the Universal Multi-Channel (UMC) functiona, but the MZ220, MZ221, MZ730, MZ910, and MZ912 do not.

a: The UMC function provides multi-PF (PF indicates physical function). Each physical 10GE port supports four PFs, each of which is a logical channel. The PFs on each 10GE port can be configured as "4 x NIC" (four Ethernet logical channels) or "3 x NIC + 1 x FCoE/iSCSI" (three Ethernet logical channels and one storage logical channel). Each PF must be assigned a VLAN ID and channel bandwidth. The four PFs of the same 10GE port are independent of each other, sharing the bandwidth of the physical 10GE port. The UMC function uses the PCIe functions defined in PCI-SIG, without depending on the OS or hypervisor.
