Interworking with Other Management Software Over SNMP

The MM910 can interwork with other management software (for example, Huawei eSight or FusionManager) over the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to centrally manage the E9000 and other devices. Table 9-1 describes the parameters for the MM910 to interwork with other management software.

The MM910 also supports SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c, which are disabled by default for security purposes.

SNMP v1/v2c community name

SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c are disabled by default. You can run the snmpconfig command to enable SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c, and run the snmpconfig command to change a community name.

SNMP v1/v2c Trap community name

SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c traps are disabled by default. You can run the snmptrapversion command to enable SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c, and run the snmptrapcommunity command to change a community name.

IP address

  • Floating IP address: 10.85.4.77
  • Static IP address and subnet mask of the standby MM910: 10.85.4.75
  • Static IP address and subnet mask of the active MM910: 10.85.4.76

This parameter has a fixed value of 161, which cannot be queried or changed.

SNMP V3 and SNMP Trap V3 Authentication protocol

SHA

You can query or set SNMP V3 Authentication protocol and SNMP V3 Privacy protocol by using the MM910web user interface (WebUI) or the snmpv3securityconf command.

  • SNMP V3 Authentication protocol: The value is MD5 or SHA.

    SHA is recommended for security purposes.

  • SNMP V3 Privacy protocol: The value is DES or AES.

SNMP V3 and SNMP Trap V3 Privacy protocol

You can run the smmget -l smm -d version command to query the MM910 software version.

  • The default value is DES if the software version is earlier than 2.8.
  • The default value is AES128 if the software version is 2.8 or later.

User name

User name and passwords for the MM910 to interwork with other management software. The user name and passwords are configurable.
