The management modules (MM910s) implement out-of-band device management in a centralized manner.

  • The two management modules work in active/standby mode and maintain synchronization through the heartbeat signal monitoring and data synchronization channels between them.
  • Each management module provides two I2C buses for power management and five I2C buses for fan module management.
  • Each management module provides Ethernet switching for BMC out-of-band management of the compute nodes and switch modules.
  • Each management module provides an external management network port (MGMT) and a stack port (STACK). The stack port is used for cascading multiple chassis.
  • Users can log in to the management module through the network ports on the panels of switch modules in slots 2X and 3X.
  • For MM910 (U54) 2.25 or earlier, the MM910s communicate with external network devices through the ports on switch modules in slots 2X and 3X by default. For MM910 later than (U54) 2.25, the MM910s communicate with external network devices through their MGMT ports by default. To query the MM910 version, see Checking the MM910.
  • You can run the outportmode command to change the MM910 management network port connection mode. If the MM910s communicate with external network devices through the switch module ports, do not connect the MM910 MGMT ports and the switch module ports to the same network. Otherwise, a network storm will occur and the network will be interrupted. For details, see MM910 Management Module V100R001 Command Reference.
