Alarm message:

Failed to start the system. CPU arg1 was not detected. 

This alarm is generated when the system failed to start and the specified CPU was not detected.

Possible Causes

The CPU is not installed.

Procedure

  1. Power off the compute node and remove it from the chassis. Check whether the CPU is installed properly.

    You can power off the compute node using either of the following methods:
    • On the HMM CLI, run the smmset -l bladeN -d powerstate -v poweroff command.
    • On the HMM WebUI, choose PSUs & Fans > PSU Management > Power Control, and click the power control button to power off the compute node.
    • If yes, go to 2.
    • If no, go to 3.

  2. Check whether the CPU is installed properly.

    • If yes, go to 4.
    • If no, go to 6.

  3. Install the CPU. Then, power on the server and check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, go to 5.
    • If no, go to 4.

  4. Switch the CPU with a functioning CPU in the same chassis. Then, power on the server and check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, go to 5.
    • If no, go to 6.

  5. Check whether the system can start normally.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 6.

  6. Replace the mainboard. Then, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 7.

  7. On the HMM WebUI, choose System Management > Information Collection, and collect logs.
  8. Contact Huawei technical support.
