Alarm message:

Failed to obtain FRU information because the communication with the BMC is abnormal

This alarm is generated when the MM910 fails to read the FRU information of a blade.

This alarm is generated by the following sensor:

Impact on the System

The system cannot obtain FRU information of the blade.

Possible Causes

Communication with the BMC failed.


  1. After about ten minutes, check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 2.

  2. Restart the BMC of the compute node. Then check whether the alarm is cleared.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 3.
    You can restart the BMC using either of the following methods:
    • On the HMM CLI, run the telnet 0 1101 command, switch to the BMC CLI, and run the ipmcset -d reset command.
    • On the HMM WebUI, choose Chassis settings > Network Settings > Node, switch to the BMC WebUI, choose System > Firmware Upgrade, and click restart button.

  3. On the HMM WebUI, choose System Management > Information Collection, and collect logs.
  4. Contact Huawei technical support.
