Installing a RAID Controller Card

Installing a RAID Controller Card

You need to install a new redundant array of independent disks (RAID) controller card to replace the original one.

Scenarios

Install a RAID controller card in any of the following scenarios:

  • A faulty RAID controller card needs to be replaced.
  • A RAID controller card of a newer model needs to be used.

Figure 5-85 shows the RAID controller card installation position on the CH222.

Prerequisites

Conditions

Data

Data preparation is not required for this operation.

Tools

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap.
  • M3 phillips screwdriver.

Hardware

  8. Follow-up Procedure.

    Configure a RAID controller card.
    • For an LSISAS2208 or LSISAS3108 RAID controller card, the procedure is as follows:
      1. Log in to the management screen. For details, see LSI SAS2208 > Initial Configuration > Logging In to the WebBIOS or LSI SAS3108 RAID Controller Card > Initial Configuration > Logging In to the WebBIOS in Huawei V2 and V3 Server RAID Controller Card User Guide.
      2. Import external configuration. For details, see LSI SAS2208 > Common Tasks > Importing Foreign Configurations or LSI SAS3108 RAID Controller Card > Common Tasks > Importing or Deleting Foreign Configurations in Huawei V2 and V3 Server RAID Controller Card User Guide.
    • For an LSISAS2308 or LSISAS3008 RAID controller card, the procedure is as follows:
      1. Log in to the CU screen. For details, see LSI SAS2308 > Initial Configuration > Logging In to the WebBIOS or LSI SAS3008 RAID Controller Card > Initial Configuration > Logging In to the WebBIOS in Huawei V2 and V3 Server RAID Controller Card User Guide.
      2. Activate RAID configuration. For details, see LSI SAS2308 > Common Tasks > Activating RAID Configuration or LSI SAS3008 RAID Controller Card > Common Tasks > Activating RAID Configuration in Huawei V2 and V3 Server RAID Controller Card User Guide.
