Changing the Initial iMana 200 U-boot Password

This topic describes how to change the initial integrated management module (iMana 200) U-boot password.

Scenarios

Log in to the CH222 over a serial port and change the initial iMana 200 U-boot password to improve the security of system operation and maintenance.

NOTE:
  • Ensure that the password complexity check is enabled. The password complexity check is enabled by default.
  • For security purposes, change the initial password upon the first login, and then change the password regularly.

The iMana 200 U-boot is software used to configure basic settings, such as hardware initialization and memory space mapping, to prepare for operating system (OS) triggering.

Impact on the System

This operation has no adverse impact on the system.

Prerequisites

Conditions

You have logged in to iMana 200 over the serial port.

Data

Default iMana 200 U-boot password: Huawei12#$.

Procedure

  1. Run the following command to reboot the iMana 200 system of the compute node:

    root@BMC:/#ipmcset -d reset

    The following information is displayed:

    This operation will reboot IPMC system. Continue? [Y/N]:

  2. Press Y.

    The system starts to reboot.

  3. When the message "Hit 'ctrl + b' to stop autoboot: 1" is displayed, press Ctrl+B immediately.
  4. Enter the default iMana 200 U-boot password.

    The following information is displayed, indicating that you have logged in to the U-boot command-line interface (CLI).

    u-boot>

  5. Run the following command to change the U-boot password:

    u-boot> passwd

    The following information is displayed:

    Enter old password:

  6. Enter an old password.

    The following information is displayed:

    Enter new password:

  7. Enter a new password.

    The following information is displayed:

    Enter the new password again:

  8. Enter the new password again.

    The following information is displayed, indicating that the password is successfully changed.
