Installing the Mainboard and Compute Node Case

This topic describes how to install a new mainboard and compute node case.

Scenarios

Install all components of the original mainboard on the new mainboard.

NOTE:

Replace the mainboard and compute node case together.

Prerequisites

Conditions

  • You have read Safety Instructions.
  • Place the compute node carefully on an electrostatic discharge (ESD) surface.

Data

Data preparation is not required for this operation.

Tools

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap.
  • M3 Phillips screwdriver.
  • Packing materials, for example, ESD bag.

Hardware

Spare mainboard and compute node case.

Procedure

  1. Take the new mainboard and compute node case out of the ESD bag.
  2. (Optional) Installing a USB Flash Drive. For details, see Installing a USB Flash Drive.
  3. (Optional) Installing a RAID Controller Card. For details, see Installing a RAID Controller Card.
  4. (Optional) Installing a TPM. For details, see Installing a TPM.
  5. (Optional) Installing a USB Flash Card. For details, see Installing a USB Flash Card.
  6. (Required) Installing a CPU and heat sink. For details, see Installing a CPU.
  7. (Required) Installing the Mezz Cards. For details, see Installing the Mezz Modules.
  8. (Required) Installing a DIMM and an Air Duct. For details, see Installing a DIMM and an Air Duct.
  9. (Optional) Installing a PCIe Card. For details, see Installing a PCIe Card.
  10. (Optional) Installing an iBBU. For details, see Installing an iBBU.
  11. (Required) Installing the Cover. For details, see Installing the Cover.
  12. (Required) Installing a Hard Disk. For details, see Installing a Hard Disk.
  13. Verification.

    After installation, power on the compute node and check the indicator status.

  14. Follow-up Procedure.

    Configure the CH222. For details, see Configuring the CH222.

    NOTE:
    • If the mainboard is replaced, the iMana 200 and BIOS configurations will be restored to default settings. You need to reconfigure the iMana 200 and BIOS. For details about the default user name, password, and IP address of the compute node, see Default Information.
    • Configure the mainboard IP address and iMana 200 based on the recorded information. For details, see E9000 Server V100R001 iMana 200 User Guide.
    • Upgrade the iMana 200, BIOS, and CPLD to the versions used before the replacement or to the latest versions. The versions used before the replacement are recommended. For details about the upgrade methods, see E9000 Server V100R001 Upgrade Guide.
    • If the BIOS configuration before the mainboard replacement was customized, customize the BIOS configuration as it was.
