Installing a DIMM and an Air Duct

Installing a DIMM and an Air Duct

You need to install a new dual in-line memory module (DIMM) to replace the original one or to expand the memory capacity.

Install a DIMM in any of the following scenarios:

  • Replace a faulty DIMM.
  • Replace a DIMM with a new model.
  • Install DIMMs to expand the system memory capacity.

Table 5-1 describes the DIMM slot installation sequence. For details about the DIMM slot numbers, see Hardware Structure.

Table 5-1 DIMM installation sequence

DIMM Slot Installation Sequence

1A1, 1B1, 1C1, 1D1, 1A2, 1B2, 1C2, 1D2, 1A3, 1B3, 1C3, 1D3

CPU1 and CPU2

1A1, 2A1, 1B1, 2B1, 1C1, 2C1, 1D1, 2D1, 1A2, 2A2, 1B2, 2B2, 1C2, 2C2, 1D2, 2D2, 1A3, 2A3, 1B3, 2B3, 1C3, 2C3, 1D3, 2D3

Data preparation is not required for this operation.

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • Packing materials, for example, ESD bag.

  1. Take the new DIMM out of the ESD bag.
  2. Ensure that the two fixing clips of the DIMM slot are open, as shown in Figure 5-35.

  3. Align the DIMM with the DIMM slot, and insert the DIMM into the slot, as shown in Figure 5-36.

The two fixing clips close automatically.

  5. Verification.

    1. Power on the compute node.
    2. In the address bar of Internet Explorer, enter https://IP address of the iMana 200 management network port.
    3. On the iMana 200 login page, enter the user name and password.
      • User Name : Enter the default user name root.
      • Password : Enter the default password Huawei12#$.
    4. Click Log In. The iMana 200 UI appears.
    5. Choose System Information > System Hardware.
    6. Check the DIMM information to ensure that the replacement is successful.
