Installing an iBBU

Installing an iBBU

You need to install an intelligent backup battery unit (iBBU) to replace the original one.


Install an iBBU in any of the following scenarios:

  • The iBBU is faulty.
  • An iBBU of a new model needs to be used.

Figure 5-13 shows the iBBU installation position on the CH222.

Data preparation is not required for this operation.


  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • Packing materials, for example, ESD bags.


New iBBU.


  1. Take the new iBBU out of its ESD bag.
  2. Put the iBBU into the iBBU box. See step (1) in Figure 5-14.

  3. Install the cable for the iBBU to the cable connector of the RAID controller card. See step (2) in Figure 5-14.
