Removing the CH222

This topic describes the precautions and procedures for removing the CH222 from the E9000 chassis.


Remove the CH222 from the HUAWEI E9000 chassis. Before the operation, you must get familiar with the hardware devices.

Impact on the System

After the CH222 is removed, all services running on the CH222 stop.



  • Refer to Safety Instructions.
  • Gracefully power off the CH222 by shutting down the operating system (OS).


Data preparation is not required for this operation.


The following tools are available:

  • Protective gloves.
  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • ESD bag.


Figure 3-10 shows the procedure for removing the CH222.

  1. Determine the compute node to be removed.

    Determine the CH222 to be removed. For details about the slot numbers for the CH222s, see Figure 3-11.

  2. (Optional) Remove the high-density cable.

    1. Press the two tabs on the high-density cable connector. See step (1) in Figure 3-12.

    2. Remove the high-density cable from the high-density port on the CH222. See step (2) in Figure 3-12.

  3. Remove the compute node.

    1. Press the springs on the CH222. See step (1) in Figure 3-13.

    2. Raise the ejector levers on the CH222 completely. See step (2) in Figure 3-13.
    3. Pull out the CH222 horizontally from the chassis. See step (3) in Figure 3-13.
    4. Lower the two ejector levers on the CH222. See step (4) in Figure 3-13.
    5. An ESD bag can hold only one CH222.

      Place the removed CH222 in an ESD bag.

  4. Install the filler panel.

    1. Press the spring on the filler panel. See step (1) in Figure 3-14.

    2. Raise the ejector lever on the filler panel completely. See step (2) in Figure 3-14.
    3. Insert the filler panel into the chassis. See step (3) in Figure 3-14.
    4. Lower the ejector lever on the filler panel. See step (4) in Figure 3-14.

    Install a filler panel in a vacant slot. Otherwise, the ventilation, heat dissipation, electromagnetic shielding, and dust resistance effect of the chassis will be affected.
