Removing a USB Flash Drive

You need to remove a USB flash drive before replacing it with a new one.


Remove a USB flash drive in either of the following scenarios:

  • The USB flash drive is faulty.
  • The USB flash drive needs to be replaced with a newer model.

For details about how to erase data from a USB flash drive, see Erasing Storage Media Data.

Figure 5-38 shows the USB flash drive installation position on the CH222.

Data preparation is not required for this operation.


  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • Packing materials, for example, ESD bag.


  1. Press and hold down the spring on a RAID controller card connector and remove the MiniSAS cable from the RAID controller card. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 5-39.

  2. Remove the bridge board between the hard disk drawer and the expansion board, as shown in Figure 5-40.

  3. Only personnel authorized by Huawei and Huawei technical support personnel can remove the mainboard.

    Use the Phillips screw to remove the three captive screw on the CH222 mainboard. See step (1) in Figure 5-41.

  4. Pull one fourth of the CH222 mainboard out of the backend until the USB flash drive is exposed. See step (2) in Figure 5-41.
  5. Remove the USB flash drive from the connector on the compute node, as show in Figure 5-42.

  6. Place the removed USB flash drive in an ESD bag.
