Removing an iBBU

Removing an iBBU

You need to remove an intelligent backup battery unit (iBBU) before replacing it with a new one.


Remove an iBBU in any of the following scenarios:

  • The iBBU is faulty.
  • The iBBU power is used up.

Figure 5-11 shows the iBBU installation position on the CH222.

Data preparation is not required for this operation.


  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • Packing materials, for example, ESD bags.


  1. Remove the cable for the iBBU from the cable connector of the RAID controller card. See step (1) in Figure 5-12.
  2. Open the latch on the battery holder and remove the iBBU. See step (2),(3) in Figure 5-12.

  3. Place the removed iBBU in an ESD bag.
