Installing the CH222

Installing the CH222

This topic describes the precautions and procedures for installing the CH222 in the E9000 chassis.

Scenarios

Install the CH222 in the HUAWEI E9000chassis. Before the operation, you must get familiar with the hardware devices.

Impact on the System

This operation has no adverse impact on the system.

Prerequisites

Conditions

Data

Data preparation is not required for this operation.

Tools

The following tools are available:

  • Protective gloves.
  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • ESD wrist strap.
  • Paper knife.

Workflow

Figure 3-1 shows the procedure for installing the CH222.

Figure 3-1 Installation procedure

Procedure

  1. Unpack the compute node.

    1. Check whether the packing case and seals are in good condition.
      NOTE:

If the packing case is damaged (for example, the packing case is soaked or deformed, or the seals or pressure sensitive adhesive tape is unsealed), fill in the Cargo Problems Feedback Form.

    2. When using a paper knife to unpack a packing case, ensure that the knife edge is of a proper protrusion to avoid hurting hands or damaging the device in the packing case.

Use a paper knife to cut the pressure sensitive adhesive tape of the packing case.

    3. Unpack the compute node, as shown in Figure 3-2.
Figure 3-2 Unpacking the compute node
    4. Take out the compute nodes together with ESD bags and place them separately on the ESD floor, as shown in Figure 3-3.
      Figure 3-3 Proper operations
      NOTE:

Do not take the compute node out of its ESD bag if you do not install it immediately.

  2. Determine the installation position.

Determine the position for installing the CH222 in the chassis. For details about the slot numbers for the CH222s, see Figure 3-5.

  3. Remove the filler panel.

    1. Press the spring on the filler panel. See step (1) in Figure 3-6.
Figure 3-6 Removing the filler panel
    2. Raise the ejector lever on the filler panel completely. See step (2) in Figure 3-6.
    3. Pull out the filler panel from the chassis. See step (3) in Figure 3-6.
    4. Lower the ejector lever on the filler panel. See step (4) in Figure 3-6.
    5. Set aside the filler panel.

  4. Install the CH222.

    1. (Optional) Remove the partition board, as shown in Figure 3-7.

The partition board must be removed before you install a full-width compute node.

      1. Press and hold down the hole and push the partition board inwards. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 3-7.
      2. Move the partition board rightwards and remove the partition board. See steps (3) and (4) in Figure 3-7.
Figure 3-7 Removing the partition board
    2. Press the springs on the CH222. See step (1) in Figure 3-8.
      Figure 3-8 Installing the CH222
    3. Raise the ejector levers on the CH222 completely. See step (2) in Figure 3-8.
    4. Insert the CH222 horizontally into the chassis. See step (3) in Figure 3-8.
    5. Lower the two ejector levers on the CH222. See step (4) in Figure 3-8.

  5. (Optional) Connect the high-density cable.

    1. Press the two tabs on the high-density cable connector. See step (1) in Figure 3-9.
Figure 3-9 Connecting the high-density cable
    2. Insert the cable horizontally into the high-density port on the CH222. See step (2) in Figure 3-9.

  6. Check the indicator status.

Check the status of the indicators on the CH222 after the CH222 is powered on.

For details about the indicators, see Table 2-1.
