Installing a BIOS Battery

After removing a BIOS battery that is faulty or low in power, install a new one.


Install a BIOS battery in either of the following scenarios:

  • A faulty BIOS battery is removed.
  • A BIOS battery that is low in power is removed.

Figure 5-53 shows the position of the BIOS battery in the CH222.

Data preparation is not required for this operation.


  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves
  • Packing materials, for example, ESD bag
  • M3 phillips screwdriver.


  1. Take a BIOS battery out of its ESD bag.
  2. Use the iron sheet on the slot to secure the battery side with no text, ensure that the + silkscreen on the battery corresponds to the + silkscreen in the slot, and insert the BIOS battery into the slot.

  3. Push the CH222 mainboard back in position. See step (1) in Figure 5-55.

  4. Use the Phillips screw to tighten the three captive screws on the CH222 mainboard. See step (2) in Figure 5-55.
  5. Connect the Mini-SAS cable to the RAID controller card.

    Ensure that the Mini-SAS cable connector is installed correctly. Figure 5-56 shows the correct direction.

  6. Connect the bridge board between the hard disk drawer and the expansion board, as shown in Figure 5-57.
