Installing a PCIe Card

Installing a PCIe Card

You need to install a Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) card to replace the original one.

Scenarios

Remove a PCIe card in any of the following scenarios:

  • A PCIe card fails.
  • A PCIe card needs to be replaced with a new model.

Figure 5-23 shows the positions of the PCIe card on the CH222.

Prerequisites

Conditions

Data

N/A

Tools

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) gloves.
  • M3 Phillips screwdriver.
  • Packaging materials, for example, an ESD bag.

Hardware

Spare PCIe card.

Procedure

  • Install a full-height half-length PCIe card.
  1. Take the spare PCIe card out of the ESD bag.
  2. Use a a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the four screws at the back of the PCIe card and remove the heat sink from the PCIe card. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 5-24.

  3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the screws fastening the bracket and remove the bracket. See steps (3) and (4) in Figure 5-24.
  4. Install the bracket delivered with the CH222. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 5-25.

  5. Install the heat sink. See steps (3) and (4) in Figure 5-25.
  6. Insert the PCIe card in the arrow direction and use a Phillips screwdriver to fasten the PCIe card. See steps (1) and (2) in Figure 5-26.
