Powering On or Off a Switching Plane

Scenarios

Remotely power on the converged switching planes of the CX311 using any of the following methods:

  • Power on all switching planes of the CX311 on the HMM WebUI. For details, see Procedure.
  • On the MM910 CLI, run the powerstate command to power on or off the switching planes of the CX311. For details, see the MM910 Management Module V100R001 Command Reference.
  • On the BMC CLI, run the powerstate command to power on or off the switching planes of the CX311. For details, see the E9000 Server V100R001 iMana 200 User Guide.
  • If the chassis is not powered on, power it on, and all the switching planes of the CX311 will be powered on with the chassis. This section does not provide the operation details.
  • If the chassis is powered off, all the switching planes of the CX311 will be powered off with the chassis.
  • If the chassis is powered on but the CX311 is not installed, install the CX311, and all switching planes of the CX311 will be automatically powered on after the installation. This section does not provide the operation details.
  • If the chassis is powered on and the CX311 is installed, remove the CX311 to power off the converged switching plane.

The FCoE gateway can only be automatically powered on or off along with the CX311 installation or uninstallation respectively, and the corresponding details are not provided in this section.

Impact on the System

When a switching plane is powered off, all services running on the switching plane stop.

Prerequisites

Software

PuTTY.exe: third-party free software. PuTTY 0.60 or later is required for login over a serial port.

Procedure

  1. Connect the RS232 serial port on the PC to the SYS serial port on the CX311 panel.
  2. Save the current configuration data.
  3. Power on or off switching planes on the HMM WebUI.

    1. Log in to the HMM WebUI.

      For details, see Logging In to the HMM WebUI.

    2. Perform operations based on the MM910 software version.
      • If the MM910 version is (U54) 2.20 or earlier, go to 3.c.
      • If the MM910 version is later than (U54) 2.20, go to 3.f.

        You can run the smmget -l smm -d version command on the MM910 CLI to check the software version.

    3. In the navigation tree, choose Power Supply Management > Swi Power Control.

      The Swi Power Control page is displayed.

    4. Power on or off the converged switching plane of a specific switch module.

      fabric indicates the converged switching plane.

    5. Click Refresh.

      Check the latest power-on and power-off status of the switch module.

    6. Choose PSUs&Fans.

      The PSUs&Fans page is displayed.

    7. In the navigation tree on the left of the PSUs&Fans page, choose PSU Management > Power Control.

    8. Power on or off the converged switching plane of a specific switch module.

    9. Refresh the page and check the latest power-on and power-off status of the switch module.
