Viewing Port Connection Status

Viewing Port Connection Status

Scenarios

View the FCoE gateway port connection status.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the FCoE gateway CLI.
  2. View port connection status.

    FCoE_GW: admin> show port

                          Fibre Channel / Passthrough Ethernet

Admin Operational Login Config Running Link Link
Port State State Status Type Type State Speed
      ---- ----- ----------- ------ ------ ------- ----- ---
Ext1:0 Online Online LoggedIn TF TF Active 8Gb/s

                          Ethernet

               Admin Operational Config Link Link
Port State State Type State Speed MACAddress
      ---- ----- ----------- ------ ----- ----- ----------
      Int1:12 Online Online TH Active 10Gb/s 00:c0:dd:30:89:79

If the value of Operational State is Online, Login State is LoggedIn, and Link State is Active for a port, the port connection is normal.

    • In Full Fabric mode, Operational State and Login Status indicate the registration status of the HBA or CNA node on the FCoE gateway. If Operational State and Login Status are Online and LoggedIn respectively, the HBA or CNA node is registered successfully.
    • In Transparent mode:
      • Config Type and Running Type indicate the operating mode of the port. The internal ports work in TH mode, and the external ports work in TF mode.
      • For external ports, Operational State and Login Status indicate the registration status of the FCoE gateway on the external FC switch. If Operational State and Login Status are Online and LoggedIn respectively, the FCoE gateway is registered successfully.
      • For internal ports, Operational State and Login Status indicate the registration status of the HBA or CNA node on the external FC switch through the FCoE gateway. If Operational State and Login Status are Online and LoggedIn respectively, the HBA or CNA node is registered successfully.
    • Link State indicates the connection status of a physical link. If Link State is Active, a connection is established.

  3. View the node registration information.

    FCoE_GW: admin> show ns

      Seq Domain Port Port
No ID ID Type COS PortWWN NodeWWN
      --- ------ ------ ---- --- ------- -------
      1 1 (0x1) 010600 N 3 20:18:32:33:33:34:35:36 21:00:32:33:33:34:35:36
      2 1 (0x1) 010b00 N 3 10:00:e4:68:a3:57:1a:2f 20:00:e4:68:a3:57:1a:2f
      3 1 (0x1) 011101 N 2,3 24:30:00:0c:29:00:12:5a 24:30:00:0c:29:00:03:5a

      Total: 3

The show ns command takes effect only when the FCoE gateway works in Full Fabric mode.

PortWWN indicates the world wide port number (WWPN) of a device that is registered with the FCoE gateway.

  4. View the node topology information.

    FCoE_GW: admin> show topology

      Unique ID Key
      -------------
      A = ALPA,  D = Domain ID,  P = Port ID

               Loc Local Rem Remote Unique
      Port Type PortWWN Type NodeWWNID
