Configuring SAN Boot
You can configure SAN Boot on the Emulex FCoE BIOS configuration screen.
When you select a working mode, Personality must be set to FCoE.
To configure SAN Boot, perform the following steps:
- Start the MZ510, and press Ctrl+E when the message shown in Figure 4-27 is displayed.

- Enable SAN Boot. By default, SAN Boot is disabled.Figure 4-30 Enabling SAN Boot
- (Optional) Scan for a disk array.
Select Scan for Target Devices, and press Enter. The screen for scanning for disk arrays is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-31. If the MZ510 is successfully connected to a disk array, the information about the disk array is displayed, as shown in Figure 4-32.
- Configure the SAN Boot device.
Select Configure Boot Devices, and press Enter. The screen for configuring boot devices is displayed.
Figure 4-33 Opening the screen for configuring boot devices - Set the boot device sequence. If no boot device is configured, the disk array information is not displayed for any boot device, as shown in Figure 4-34.
- Select the boot path, that is, specify the device for enabling SAN Boot, as shown in Figure 4-35. Press Enter. If you select Clear selected boot entry, the SAN Boot configurations of the selected boot path are cleared, as shown in Figure 4-36.
- Set the starting logical unit number (LUN) number by pressing the Up and Down arrow keys.Figure 4-37 Setting the starting LUN number

- Set the boot mode of a boot device to WWPN or DID. WWPN is the WWN of the interface on a target device (disk array), and DID is the N_Port_ID assigned to the interface on a target device (disk array) by the FC name server.Figure 4-39 Setting the boot mode
After the setting is complete, the information about the boot devices is displayed in the specified sequence, as shown in Figure 4-40.
Use the same method to set more boot devices. Figure 4-41 shows the boot device sequence.
- Clear SAN Boot configurations. You can select Reset Adapter Defaults to clear all SAN Boot configurations and restore the default SAN Boo configurations, as shown in Figure 4-42.
