Configuring iSCSI Boot
You can configure iSCSI Boot on the Emulex iSCSI BIOS configuration screen.
Before performing the configuration, you must set Personality to iSCSI on the screen for setting the working mode.
To configure iSCSI Boot, perform the following steps:
- Start the MZ510, and press Ctrl+S when the message shown in Figure 4-43 is displayed.
- Enter the iSCSI initiator name.Figure 4-44 Entering the iSCSI initiator name
- Select Save, and press Enter.Figure 4-45 Saving the iSCSI initiator name setting
- Select Controller Configuration, and press Enter.Figure 4-46 Selecting Controller Configuration
- Select an iSCSI initiator port, and press Enter.Figure 4-47 Selecting an iSCSI initiator port
- Select Network Configuration, and press Enter. The Network Configuration screen is displayed.Figure 4-48 Selecting Network Configuration
- Select Configure Static IP Address, and press Enter. The Static IP Address screen is displayed.Figure 4-49 Selecting Configure Static IP Address
- Set an IP address for the initiator.
Under Static IP Address, enter an IP address and a subnet mask, and select Save. The IP address is that of the port on the MZ510 (initiator).
Figure 4-50 Setting an IP address for the initiatorIf the iSCSI disk array (target) is deployed on the same network (LAN) as the MZ510, the IP address of the MZ510 port must be on the same network segment as that of the port on the iSCSI disk array. You can leave the gateway address blank. If the iSCSI disk arrays are deployed on different networks (network segments), you need to set the gateway address based on actual network configuration. The gateway device (for example, a router) provides the route for accessing the iSCSI disk array.
- Return to the iSCSI Utility screen, select iSCSI Target Configuration, and press Enter. The iSCSI Target Configuration screen is displayed.Figure 4-51 Selecting iSCSI Target Configuration
- Select Add New iSCSI Target, and press Enter.Figure 4-52 Selecting Add New iSCSI Target
- Set iSCSI target parameters.
The IP address is that of the port on the iSCSI disk array. Generally, the value of TCP Port Number is 3260, which must be the same as that on the iSCSI disk array. Set Boot Target to Yes.
After setting the parameters, select Save/Login, and press Enter. The screen for configuring the new connection is displayed.
In Figure 4-53, the IP address of the port on the iSCSI disk array (target) is not on the same network segment as that of the port on the iSCSI initiator (MZ510). Therefore, an external gateway device (for example, a router) must be used to provide routing forwarding.
- Set up the connection between the initiator and the target.
Select the new iSCSI target, and press F3.
