UPE+PE-AGG+NPE Network Architecture

PE-AGG devices can be added between UPE and NPE devices. PE-AGG devices aggregate services, terminate VPLS, and transparently transmit services to NPE devices. The S9300&S9300E can serve as the PE-AGG or UPE device as shown in Figure 3-13.

In this networking mode:

  • The S9300&S9300E function the same in this network architecture as UPE+NPE Network Architecture.

  • The S9300&S9300E terminate VPLS tunnels and transparently transmit services to NPE devices.

  • The NPE devices decapsulate VLAN and QinQ packets.

  • Link protection between the S9300&S9300E and the NPE device is implemented using BFD for LSP.
