This topic describes the initial configuration process for the CX910 on a local PC.

Configuration Process

After hardware installation of the CX910, configure the installed CX910 to implement the switching function.

Set an IP address for the management network port.

Set the IP address for the management network port of the 10GE switching plane.

You can log in to the CLI of the switching plane from a PC by using the IP address of the management network port.

Log in to the CLI of each switching plane.

You can log in to the 10GE switching plane CLI over Secure Shell (SSH), Serial Over LAN (SOL), or a serial port.

Check the switching plane.

Check the following items in the 10GE switching plane of the CX910:

  • Query versions and check whether the versions are the required ones.
  • Query alarms and check whether an alarm is generated.

Changing the Initial User Passwords

Change the initial user passwords after the first login to the CX910 to ensure the security of system operating and maintenance.

This topic describes how to change the initial user passwords of the BMC, 10GE switching plane, and BIOS.

Add a user.

Add a user in the 10GE switching plane of the CX910. You can log in to the switching plane CLI for routine maintenance as the new user.

Configure switch module data.

This topic describes the switching service data supported by the 10GE switching plane of the CX910.

Back up configuration files.

Back up the configuration file of the 10GE switching plane for the CX910. If configuration errors occur or the CX910 is faulty, you can use the backup configuration file to restore configuration data.
