Restoring the MX210 Configuration File by Using the CLI

Restoring the MX210 Configuration File by Using the CLI

This topic describes how to restore the MX210 configuration file by using the CLI.

Prerequisites

NOTICE:
  • Restoring the configuration file will overwrite the existing configuration.
  • Stop services before restoring the configuration file.
  • Ensure that the downloaded configuration file is compatible with the MX210. Downloading a configuration file from a different model may cause the MX210 to fail.
  • If Virtual Fabrics are enabled, restore logical switches by referring to the "Configuration Management for Virtual Fabrics" section of the MX210&MX220 Fabric OS Administrator Guide.
  • You can restore the MAPS configuration only when MAPS is enabled for the MX210.
  • SFTP has been enabled for the PC.
  • Log in to the MX210 by using the user name admin and default password Huawei12#$.

Context

The related command parameters and restrictions are described as follows:

  • Restrictions for some of the options of the configDownload command
Table 5-1 Restrictions for some of the options of the configDownload command

Option

Restriction

–chassis

The number of MX210s defined in the downloaded configuration file must match the number of MX210s currently defined on the switch.

fid FID

The FID must be defined in both the downloaded configuration file and the current system.

fid FIDsfid FID

The FID must be defined on the switch and the source FID must be defined in the downloaded configuration file.

all

The number of MX210s or FIDs defined in the downloaded configuration file must match the number of MX210s or FIDs currently defined on the switch.

  • If you must set up the MX210 again, run the commands listed in Table 5-2 and save the output in a file format. Store the files in a safe place for emergency reference.
Table 5-2 Commands for querying and modifying configuration information

Procedure

  1. Use an administrator account to log in to the SFTP server.

For details, see Transferring Files Using SFTP.

  2. If there is any changed parameter that does not belong to SNMP, MAPS, or ACL, run the switchDisable command to disable the MX210.
  3. Run the configDownload command and enter information as prompted. The following uses the host IP address 10.1.2.3 as an example:

    • Example of the configDownload command without Admin Domains:
      switch:admin> configdownload
      Protocol (scp, ftp, local) [ftp]:
Server Name or IP Address [host]:10.1.2.3
      User Name [user]:admin
      Path/Filename [<home dir>/config.txt]:
      Section (all|chassis|FID# [all]):all
      *** CAUTION ***
This command is used to download a backed-up configuration for a specific switch. If using a file from a different switch, this file's configuration settings will override any current switch settings. Downloading a configuration file, which was uploaded from a different type of switch, may cause this switch to fail.
A switch reboot is required for the changes to take effect.
Please make sure all the switches are disabled by
using "chassisdisable" command.Downloading configuration to an online switch may result in some configuration not being downloaded to that switch.
configDownload operation may take several minutes to complete for large files.
Do you want to continue [y/n]:y Password:
      configDownload complete.
