CX912 Switch Module V100R001C10 User Guide 17

This document describes the CX912 multi-plane switch module (CX912 for short) of the Tecal E9000 server in terms of its features, installation, removal, and configuration. This document applies to the CX912 whose 10GE switching planes use the software versions of 1.2.1.0.39, 2.00 and later.

Checking the Switching Plane

Checking the Switching Plane

This topic describes how to check the operating status of the MX210.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the MX210.

For details, see Logging In to the MX210 over a Serial Port and Logging In to the MX210 Using SSH.

  2. Run the following command on the MX210 CLI to check the current software version of the MX210:

    FC_SW:admin> version

The command output is as follows:

    Kernel: 2.6.14.2
    Fabric OS: v7.1.0_huq_bld06
    Made on: Wed May 29 15:16:43 2013
    Flash: Sat Jun 8 15:48:33 2013
    BootProm: 1.0.10

Fabric OS indicates the FOS version of the current plane.

    NOTE:
    • The MX210 has an old version (with 24 ports) and a new old version (with 20 ports). The new one will gradually replace the old one.
    • The old MX210 supports FOS v7.1.0 and later versions. The new MX210 supports FOS v7.3.1a and later versions.

  3. View the mapping of ports on the MX210.

For the old MX210 version, run the following command to query port information:

    FC_SW:admin> switchshow

The command output is as follows:

    switchName: FC_SW
    switchType: 156.0

Table 4-11 Ports on the MX210

    Port

    Description

    0

Port connected to front slot 16 in the chassis

    1-8

Ports mapping to ports 1 to 8 on the switch module panel

    NOTE:

For the old version (with 24 ports), eight ports on the panel are activated by default. For the new version (with 20 ports), ports 1 to 4 are activated by default, and ports 5 to 8 need to be activated with a license.

    9-23

Ports connected to front slots 1 to 15 in the chassis

    NOTE:
    • The internal FC interface rate must be set to 8 Gbit/s.
    • The external FC ports support the rates of 2 Gbit/s, 4 Gbit/s, 8 Gbit/s, and auto-negotiation.
    • If an external port (such as port 4) is online and in F-Port mode, with the WWPN displayed, the corresponding device is successfully registered with the MX210.
    • If an internal port (such as port 10) is disabled (persistent), the corresponding HBA of a compute node is not installed, and the MX210 internal ports are disabled.
    • If an internal port (such as port 18) is online and in F-Port mode, with the WWPN displayed, the corresponding HBA of a compute node is successfully registered with the MX210.
    • If certain external ports (such as ports 5 to 8) are in the "(No POD License) Disabled" state, the MX210 is a new version and ports 5 to 8 are disabled (no POD license imported).
