Logging In to a Compute Node or a Switch Module over MM910 SOL

Scenarios

Log in to a compute node or a switch module by using the serial over LAN (SOL) function provided by the MM910.

Prerequisites

Data

  • User name and password for logging in to the MM910

    Default user name: root; default password: Huawei12#$

  • User name and password for logging in to the compute nodes to be connected

    Default user name: root; default password: Huawei12#$

  • Password for logging in to the switch modules to be connected

    Default password: Huawei12#$

Procedure

  1. Log in to the MM910 CLI by using PuTTY and the floating IP address of the MM910.

    For details about how to use PuTTY, see Logging In to the MM910 CLI Over a Network Port by Using PuTTY.

  2. Log in to the SOL CLI.

    telnet 0 1101

    The command output is as follows:

    NOTE:

    Exit the SOL CLI and then power off the service terminal. Otherwise, you cannot log in to the SOL CLI the next time.

  3. Enter the user name and password.

    In the information displayed:

    • The numbers 1 to 32 indicate the compute nodes in slots 1 to 32 respectively.
    • The numbers 33 to 36 indicate the switch modules in slots 1E, 2X, 3X, and 4E respectively.

  4. Enter the slot number of the compute node or switch module, and press Enter.

    • If you enter the slot number of a compute node, the serial port types supported by the compute node are displayed:

      Example:

      • systemcom: serial port for accessing the OS.
      • RAIDcom: serial port for accessing the RAID. Only CH222 and CH222 V3 compute nodes have this serial port.
      • BMCcom: serial port for accessing the BMC.
      • Exboardcom: serial port for accessing the expansion board. Only CH222 and CH222 V3 compute nodes have this serial port.
      • SYS COM: serial port for accessing the OS.
      • BMC COM: serial port for accessing the BMC.
    • If you enter the slot number of a switch module, the serial port types supported by the switch module are displayed.

      Example:

      • BMCcom: serial port for accessing the BMC.
      • fabriccom: serial port for accessing an Ethernet switching plane.
      • basecom: reserved and currently disabled.
      • FCcom: serial port for accessing the Fibre Channel (FC) switching plane or Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) gateway.
      • bmccom: serial port for accessing the BMC.

  5. Enter the number of a serial port, and press Enter.

    The serial port CLI is displayed. On this CLI, you can perform operations such as configuring the serial port and querying parameters of the serial port.

    NOTE:
    • To return to the CLI for selecting a slot in the chassis, press Ctrl+R.
    • To log out of the SOL CLI, press CTRL+R twice.
