Internal Chassis Networking

This topic describes connection relationships between the CX913 and mezz modules on compute nodes.

For details, see E9000 Blade Server Mezz Module-Switch Module Interface Mapping Tool.

Figure 2-8 shows the internal chassis networking for the CX913 and compute nodes. Ports on compute nodes for connecting to the CX913 are provided by two mezz modules. The mapping between the CX913 and the NIC and mezz modules is described as follows:

  • Mezz 1 connects to the 10GE switching planes and FC pass through planes of the CX913s in slots 2X and 3X.
  • Mezz 2 connects to the 10GE switching planes and FC pass through planes of the CX913s in slots 1E and 4E.

Mapping between the CX913 and ports on the MZ311

The MZ311 provides four 10GE optical ports, including ports 1, 2, 3, and 4. Ports 1 and 3 map to the 10GE switching plane of the CX913 in slot 2X, and ports 2 and 4 map to the 10GE switching plane of the CX913 in slot 3X.

The two 10GE optical ports (ports 1 and 2) on the MZ510 map to the 10GE switching planes of the CX913s in slots 2X and 3X respectively.

Mapping between the CX913 and ports on the MZ512

The MZ512 provides four 10GE optical ports, including ports 1, 2, 3, and 4. Ports 1 and 3 map to the 10GE switching plane of the CX913 in slot 2X, and ports 2 and 4 map to the 10GE switching plane of the CX913 in slot 3X.

The two 10GE ports (ports 1 and 2) on the MZ910 map to the 10GE switching planes of the CX913s in slots 3X and 2X respectivel.

The two 8G FC ports (ports 3 and 4) on the MZ910 map to the FC pass through planes of the CX913s in slots 3X and 2X respectively.
