Console Redirection

This topic describes how to redirect a serial port.

On the Console Redirection screen, you can configure serial port redirection. Table 5-3 describes parameters on the screen.Figure 5-3 shows the Console Redirection screen.

Indicates whether to enable the function of serial port redirection. The function enables the system to map a specified physical or virtual serial port to the specified system serial port. The options are as follows:

  • Enable: enable.
  • Disable: disable.

Terminal type, that is, emulation type. The emulation type in the BIOS must be the same as that on terminals. The options are as follows:

  • VT100
  • VT100+
  • VT-UTF8
  • ANSI

ANSI

Bits per second

Serial port redirection speed, that is, number of bits transmitted in a second. The options are as follows:

  • 9600
  • 19200
  • 38400
  • 57600
  • 115200

Data Bits

Data bit for serial port redirection, that is, number of bits that actual data uses in each byte. The options are as follows:

  • 7
  • 8

Parity

Parity check bit. Mark: The parity check bit is always 1. Space: The parity check bit is always 0. The two parity check modes cannot be used for error detection. The options are as follows:

  • None: indicates that no parity check is performed.
  • Even: indicates that the data whose sum is an even number is checked.
  • Odd: indicates that the data whose sum is an odd number is checked.
  • Mark: indicates that 1 is manually set.
  • Space: indicates that 0 is manually set.

Stop Bits

Stop bit for serial port redirection, that is, the last bit of a single data packet. The options are as follows:

  • 1
  • 2
